Apple is preparing to revive the crossbody strap trend with a brand-new accessory designed for the upcoming iPhone 17 series, which will debut on September 9.
The news comes from insider Majin Bu, who has previously shared accurate leaks about Apple products.
The new accessory, called the Crossbody Strap, will feature a flexible metal core, allowing it to magnetically attach along its entire length.
The fastening system is also magnetic: users will simply thread the strap through a special opening in the iPhone case and connect two magnetic rings together. This design eliminates the need for traditional hooks or loops, making it sleek and easy to use.
Inspired by Apple Watch Design
The strap’s material is inspired by the popular Sport Loop band for the Apple Watch. Apple is said to be testing a thin woven nylon fabric as well as a silicone option.
The Crossbody Strap will launch alongside the iPhone 17 lineup and will be fully compatible with official Apple cases. There’s also speculation that it may work with the new AirPods Pro 3 case, further expanding its versatility.

Although Apple hasn’t revealed a price yet, early reports suggest the accessory could cost around $20.
On Tuesday, September 9, Apple will officially present its iPhone 17 family, including the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, the Apple Watch Series 11, the rugged Apple Watch Ultra 3, and the long-awaited AirPods Pro (3rd generation).
Additionally, rumors point to the revival of the iconic bumper cases first introduced with the iPhone 4. These cases protect only the edges of the device, leaving the back panel exposed — a nostalgic nod for longtime Apple fans.
